Brookfield Woman Accused of Embezzlement Faces Civil Charges

She has been accused of hitting and injuring a pedestrian.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The woman accused of embezzling more than $12,000 from a Brookfield parent teacher organization has also been charged with failing to pay her credit card bills and hitting a pedestrian, the News Times is reporting.

Monica Bevilacqua, of Brookfield, was arrested last week after police said she took money from the Center Elementary School PTO’s accounts. Court records also indicate that she was asked to pay $100,000 in December to settle a civil case with a pedestrian she struck and injured in 2016. The previous month, a judge ordered her to pay almost $17,000 she owed to Citibank for her Mastercard bills.

Bevilacqua is due in court on Jan. 10 for the embezzlement charges, and Feb. 5 for a pretrial conference for the motor vehicle accident.
