Calling Brookfield Young Thespians to a Free Kid's Theater Open House This Saturday

The Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Foundation is pleased to announce a new theater troupe forming for local young residents. The youth theater program is open to all and geared towards students ages 4 through 12 years old beginner through intermediate levels.

Classes will be held Saturday mornings at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Ave., Danbury. Kids will enjoy fun theater games, charades, singing, dancing and learn how to memorize small speaking roles and songs. A musical theater production will be held in April at the Cultural Center.

Open House details are as follows:

• Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at 10 a.m.
• Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center
• 6 Lake Ave., Danbury
• Free snacks, theater games and more!

Musical theater classes are taught by “Miss Wendy,” teacher/founder of The SHACK (Sandy Hook Arts Center for Kids) and Ultra Violet Productions who has over 10 years of teaching experience and is Head Teacher Certified in Early Childhood Education through the State of Connecticut.

Classes will begin mid-January and run through mid-April at the Cultural Center, 6 Lake Ave. Danbury. Classes are $10 per child per hour-long class for the 10-week session, $100 per child.

Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Foundation board member Pam Fedigan said, “I think this is a great way to bring new people into the club to find out what we’re all about.”

Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Foundation John Feeney is collaborating with teacher Wendy Mitchell (also Patch editor) on this exciting new venture.

“I think it’s a wonderful way to bring Irish folklore and tradition to the public through theater,” Feeney said.
