Temple tells Patch why she should be elected to the Brookfield Zoning Board of Appeals

BROOKFIELD, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Brookfield and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.
Brookfield Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.
Lisa Temple is running for a seat on the Zoning Board of Appeals as a Democrat. She holds a BA in Sociology from Tufts University and a JD from Brooklyn Law School. She is currently serving as an appointed alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and has previously served as an appointed member of the Ethics Commission in Ossining, NY.

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
I believe the most pressing issue facing our town is maintaining the charm and character of our community in light of property development projects. To the greatest extent possible, I am committed to enforcing the zoning laws to preserve the town’s rural heritage and character while at the same time allowing home and business owners to enhance their properties’ utility and value.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
As a current alternate member on the ZBA I have solid track record of cooperation with other board members, including those across the aisle, to successfully resolve landowners’ concerns while preserving Brookfield’s special character. In my 16 years as an attorney, I’ve earned strong analytical skills and sound judgment, which I am excited to use for the benefit of my community and neighbors.List other issues that define your campaign platform:
