Candlewood Lake Authority: Keep Your Leaves Out of the Lake
The Candlewood Lake Authority is asking Brookfield residents not to rake their leaves into the lake.

The Candlewood Lake Authority (CLA) is asking residents to rake and blow leaves away from the lake when raking and doing fall cleanups.
“The vast majority of waterfront homeowners are responsible and very careful to not let their leaves enter the Lake - but every year we see tell-tale evidence of leaves having been dumped into Candlewood Lake,” the CLA wrote in a release.
The CLA explained that excess leaves become a source of nutrients that can increase algae and weeds. Adding additional leaves to the Lake will deplete the lake of necessary oxygen as the leaves decompose.
They are also asking resident who have a lawn service, to notify them so that they comply and do not rake or blow leaves into the water.
