Candlewood Lake Boating Victim Killed by Propeller: Lawsuit
A lawsuit has been filed by the victim's mother.

BROOKFIELD, CT -- Waterbury teacher Wanda Tirado was killed when she was struck by the propeller of the boat in which she had been sailing. That is the gruesome allegation in a lawsuit filed by Tirado’s mother, Josefina Rodriguez Robles, The News Times is reporting.
The lawsuit seeks a $1.5 million award from Gary Morrone, 65, of Oakville, who piloted the boat. EnCon Police arrested Morrone after he allegedly tried to evade the scene of the collision on June 19. He was charged with reckless operation of vessel 1st degree, failure to help a collision victim, and failure to immediately notify law enforcement of injury. He was released on a $10,000 bond in June.
Officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection have only confirmed that Tirado had been a passenger in the boat, and not how she ended up in the water or how she was killed.
