CT Primary 2026: What Brookfield Voters Need To Know

BROOKFIELD, CT — Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 11, for Connecticut’s 2026 primary election, with races for governor and Congress among the contests on ballots across the state.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The biggest statewide contest is the Democratic primary for governor between incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont and state Rep. Josh Elliott of Hamden.

There is no Republican primary for governor. State Sen. Ryan Fazio is the Republican candidate for governor and will advance to the November general election.

Connecticut holds closed primaries, meaning voters generally must be registered with a political party to vote in that party’s primary.

Where To Vote In Brookfield

Brookfield's polling locations are:

• District 1: Candlewood Lake Elementary School, 100 Candlewood Lake Road
• Districts 2 and 3: Brookfield High School, 45 Long Meadow Hill Road

Voters who aren't sure of their district should confirm their assigned polling location before heading to the polls.

Voters who are in line when polls close at 8 p.m. are allowed to cast a ballot.

What’s On The Ballot In Brookfield?

Brookfield voters have two major primary contests, depending on their party affiliation.

Lamont is seeking a third term as governor, while Elliott is challenging the incumbent for the Democratic nomination.

The winner of Tuesday's primary will advance to the Nov. 3 general election.

Republican voters in Brookfield will also decide who they want to take on Democratic U.S. Rep. Jahana Hayes for the 5th Congressional District this fall.

Chris Shea and Jonathan De Barros are competing for the Republican nomination, which covers much of western Connecticut.

The winner will advance to the November general election against Hayes.

What To Know Before Voting

Connecticut has closed primaries. Registered Democrats can vote in Democratic primaries, while registered Republicans can vote in Republican primaries being held in their district.

Voters should confirm their registration status and polling location through the Connecticut Secretary of the State’s voter lookup before heading to the polls.
