Emily Jeronimo, 97, of Brookfield, Passed Away Oct. 11

Emily Jeronimo, 97, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, October 11, 2015. She was the wife of the late Antonio Jeronimo.

Emily, better known to many as “Vavó” was born in São Miguel, Acores, July 10, 1918, daughter of the late Antonio and Conceicão Furtado.

Emily immigrated to the United States in 1952 and lived in Fall River, MA, before moving to Danbury and Brookfield. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Emily was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and her daughter Lucy Forlastro. She is survived by her daughters, Edna Larson of Brookfield, Adriana Michael and husband Robert of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Louise McIlravy and husband Robert of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and Delia Pinheiro and husband Henrique of Brookfield with whom she made her home; son-in-law Richard Forlastro; ten grandchildren, Michael Larson, Melissa Amooi, Megan Block, Richard Forlastro, Jeffrey Forlastro, Stacey Robertino, Brendan McIlravy, Vanessa Lynch, Sarah Pinheiro, and Kyle Pinheiro; 14 great grandchildren; one great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews, including Bernadette Rose who was more like a daughter; two sisters, Silvana Matias of Danbury and Georgina Furtado of São Miguel, Acores.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 149 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury, on Thursday. Entombment followed at the St. Peter Cemetery Mausoleum. There were no calling hours. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
