Estate Sale Signals the End of an Era

The Homestead Inn, just off the New Milford Green has closed but will open for an estate sale next weekend - April 24-26th

There seem to be fewer and fewer quaint inns and B-n-B’s these days. I remember a small bed and breakfast in Sherman Connecticut that my wife and I visited early in our relationship. One of the memories we have from that visit was a dip in the jacuzzi in the middle of the night during a snow storm. It wasn’t what we’d planned, but that’s what makes memorable moments - approaching a new situation and trying together to make the best of it.

The bed & breakfast with the midnight winter jacuzzi is sadly long gone. While I suppose we could have had just as many memories in standard locations, something about the uniqueness of small privately owned inn breaks up the monotony of staying at a motel chain. Now, another of these friendly little places that I remember is leaving the hills of Western CT.

read more here about the passing of this iconic Inn and play connect-the-dots with Marilyn Monroe and JFK...no, really, there’s a connection. I swear!
