The 2010 FIRST WIST Forum, "Engineering Your Future", will take place at FIRSTand UNH-Manchester on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 2 PM. In it's tenth year, this daylong event is held at FIRSTPlace and UNH Manchester, both located in the historic millyard section of Manchester, New Hampshire. This event focuses on sharing valuable information that will inspire and motivate young women toward science, engineering and technology careers, as well as discuss women's professional initiatives and achievements.
For high school girls approaching a decision about what college to attend, what major to pursue, or what career paths might be open to them, the Women in Science and Technology Forum provides a unique opportunity to meet professional women and receive guidance through workshops, panel discussions and interview sessions. Forum participants will also learn about a variety of programs from colleges and universities, and learn about resources that are available to help them achieve their education and career goals.
The panelists and presenters include more than 30 successful women in science and technology from throughout New England. These women share a common goal to illustrate to young women the excitement and rewards of careers in science and technology. This event will expose high school girls to the level of achievement women have reached in science and technology, and give these young women inspiration and direction to help them reach their own potential and realize their own aspirations. Our last Forum hosted over 300 students from throughout New England.
To extend the value of the Forum, the students are able to continue to communicate and use the network of Forum presenters, via email, as a resource for information and guidance as they determine and follow their collegiate and career paths.
