Fatal Boating Accident Reported On Candlewood Lake Sunday

BREAKING: The fatal accident occurred Sunday afternoon, state officials say.

BROOKFIELD, CT — A fatal boating accident has been reported Sunday afternoon on Candlewood Lake, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

At 12:30 p.m., DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police Officers responded to Candlewood Lake in Brookfield for a report of a capsized 17 foot motorboat, officials said. Two males were recovered from the vessel. One male is safe and unharmed, and a second male was transported to Danbury Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, state officials said.

EnCon is investigating the accident, no further information will be released today, officials say.
