Four Corners Roadway and Streetscape Phase 1 Approved for Town Center

The Town of Brookfield has gotten over one of the last hurdles, first selectman Bill TInsley said, to realizing their dream of developing a town center at the Four Corners.

The Town of Brookfield met with CT Department of Transportation on Thursday, Aug. 13, to discuss a number of design issues to make road and right-of-way modifications to State Highway Routes 202 and 25 at the Four Corners.The Town has secured grant funding of $1.1 million to complete Phase I of the project which includes the intersection and Southwest and Southeast Corners.

According to Tinsley, the developers, Unicorn Contracting, gifted three acres to the Town as part of the plan. He said that roadway and streetscape improvements should begin in the spring of 2016.

“Brookfield has never had a town center,” Tinsley told Patch, “and this is a chance to do something really nice. It’s a top priority for our town.”

Tinsley sees this development as a way to attract a younger demographic to the town by the town center a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, afford place to live.
