GreenDrop Opens First CT Donation Center in Brookfield
The new location at 15 Federal Road offers Brookfield residents the most convenient way to donate their unwanted goods.

From GreenDrop:
BROOKFIELD, CT — June 2, 2015– GreenDrop-- the organization that is revolutionizing how consumers support their favorite charities through the donation of lightly worn clothing, electronics, and household goods at conveniently located, free-standing locations— opened their first Connecticut donation center in Brookfield today.
GreenDrop’s unique model eliminates the obstacles and issues of traditional donation methods. As clothing donation bins have come under fire for becoming unsightly magnets for clutter and trash within communities, donors have become suspicious and expressed wariness to donate their goods without a clear idea of what charitable cause they are supporting. In addition, consumers are often required to leave their goods out in the elements to potentially go to waste, causing donors to search for a better process. GreenDrop offers consumers a stress-free way to support some of the nation’s most respected charities while providing full transparency in the donation process.

GreenDrop donation centers are often found at renovated gas stations and convenience stores that protect donated goods from the elements. Local Brookfield residents simply pull up to the clean, brightly lit, and safe drive-up donation center on Federal Road, where they are greeted at their car by a uniformed attendant who will unload their donations and provide tax-deductible documentation for their records. Donors can choose one of GreenDrop’s partner charities to direct their giving: the Military Order of the Purple Heart or the National Federation of the Blind. The donations are converted to cash so each of the benefitting charities can efficiently further their programs and related initiatives with proper funding. In 2014, GreenDrop’s efforts raised a total of $2.5 million for participating charities.
In commenting on the opening, GreenDrop’s CAO, Tony Peressini, said, “We set out to innovate the way Americans support their favorite charitable causes in creating the GreenDrop model. We are proud to provide consumers with a safe, easy way to support their favorite charities, while being environmentally conscious. Most importantly, we aim to treat donors with respect in the donation process, while also caring for their goods, and the charities we support.” Peressini continued, “GreenDrop provides the infrastructure and support charities so desperately need to raise funds that promote their valued programs. We are proud to provide consumers with an accessible and innovative way to participate in charitable giving for organizations they care about.”

About GreenDrop
GreenDrop is transforming the way consumers support their favorite charities by donating lightly worn clothing, household goods, and electronics at conveniently-located, free-standing locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
By recycling former gasoline stations and standalone store fronts, GreenDrop offers consumers clean, brightly lit, and safe drive-up locations where they are greeted at their car by uniformed GreenDrop attendants, who unload donations, provide tax-deductible receipts and allow consumers to direct their giving to either the Purple Heart or the National Federation of the Blind. In 2013, these charities received $2.5 million through donations to GreenDrop facilities, which are sorted and then resold at area thrift stores.
