Hats for the Homeless, an Act of Kindness

Brookfield Lions and friends knit over 130 hats and gloves for local Homeless Shelters.

Pictured above (L-R) is Lion Cathy Nielsen and the President of the Brookfield Lions, Lion Lyn Lyon .

When asked how this project came to be, Mrs. Nielsen said that she was knitting hats for her granddaughters and wondered what she could do with all the extra yarn. She thought she could knit a few for the homeless. But why stop there why not make this into a Brookfield Lions Club project and ask the membership to knit at least 100 hats in recognition this year’s Lions Centennial celebration. What she received was over 130 hats, gloves, scarves that were very colorful, some decorative and all very functional.

She is very thankful to the dozen members and their friends who made the effort and contributed their handwork in such a short space of time.
