BROOKFIELD, CT — The Town of Brookfield is surveying residents and businesses regarding the extent of damage they suffered during the weekend storm.

The President has declared the State and Fairfield County to be Disaster Zones. However, FEMA must now declare individual and businesses as eligible for aid is a secondary process.

Claimants are being directed to a state web link for their self-reporting. The online data collection process will determine where Federal Emergency Management Agency officials will direct teams and resources,

"We encourage everyone who can document damage due to the storm this past weekend to submit the details through the link. This will help everyone in our goal to meet the minimum monetary damage levels we would need to reach to get assistance for residents and business owners," Town officials posted on their website.

More than 10 inches of rain fell during a short period of time on Sunday, triggering mud slides and washing numerous roads away.
