Joan A. de Moraes, 82

Joan A. de Moraes, 82, of Brookfield, wife to the late Oreste de Moraes, died Monday, November 28 at home. Joan was born on November 5, 1929 in White Plains, NY. She was the daughter to the late John L. and Dorothy M. (Bell) Anderson.

Joan was a member of the of Brookfield where she volunteered often. She worked as a mail carrier at the Brookfield Post Office for 15 years. She was also a member of the postal union. She was the glue to the family business of “Our Place Café” from 1978 to 1990.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Regional Hospice for all of their care and support for Joan, and to the many friends and volunteers who helped her through this difficult time.

Joan is survived by her sons, Jeffery de Moraes of New Milford and Steven de Moraes of Myrtle Beach, SC; three grandchildren, Christine Martin, Kelly Tyler and Christopher de Moraes; two sisters, Grace Robinson of Oldsmar, Fla. and Doris Heath of Atlanta, Ga.; one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Martin. 

Funeral Information

As per Joan’s wishes she was cremated. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
