Letter to the Editor: In Praise of Brookfield State Rep. Stephen Harding

The election is March 1.

To the Editor,

As a Republican Town Committee member in Brookfield, I was proud a year ago to work in the Special Election on behalf of our now-State Representative, Steve Harding. Steve epitomizes what’s great about his generation – love for America and Connecticut – but a genuine concern and dislike for what’s happened to America and Connecticut these last few years. He stands up to the Malloy administration on a daily basis to fight policies that continue to burden Connecticut’s residents and businesses.

Steve’s passion has motivated several others in the millennial generation to join the Brookfield RTC, including WCSU College Republicans President Austin Samuelson and member Christy Petriccione.

Steve Harding prevailed in that special election despite an onslaught of attacks from his opponent, Howard Lasser, and the Democratic Machine in Hartford. Some of Lasser’s biggest supporters and his maximum donors – led by Lawrence Miller - now seek to control the Brookfield Republican Town Committee. How they can even call themselves Republicans – after investing their time and money to Democrats – is really beyond the pale.

As a member of the BRTC and the endorsed-slate in the March 1 primary, I can attest that while our roster is diverse, we were unanimous in our support of Rep. Harding last year and will also be this year. Getting Steve reelected is our highest priority in 2016. Vote Rows A and B on March 1 to help us make that happen!
