So far, the Southern Connecticut Walk/Run has raised nearly $25,000 in the form of both donations and scholarships; about 25% of the way towards its fundraising goal of $90,000.
To further their fundraising goal, CULTEC is also proud to present A Night with Phil Quinn- Medium & Life Guide on September 18th at the Hampton Inn in Danbury, with all proceeds going directly towards the Walk/Run fundraising efforts. Phil Quinn (www.philquinn) who has appeared on WTNH’s Connecticut Style several times is a medium blessed with the ability to see and hear those who have passed away. For more than two decades, Quinn has been connecting people with loved ones who have crossed over, helping them find closure and move forward from their loss.
“Sponsoring the St. Jude Walk is something we look forward to each year,” said Lisa Lynch, TEAM CULTEC Captain and CULTEC Customer Service Representative. “Being that CULTEC as a company is such a close-knit family, we know the importance of leaning on each other for support when life throws us difficult challenges. St. Jude provides that same support to all of its children and their families – at no cost to them – and any way we can raise money to support that mission gives us all immense pride. It is the least we can do to give back to a cause that does so much for others and asks nothing in return.”
St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Despite great progress, this year, parents of 16,000 children in the U.S. will hear the words: “Your child has cancer,” and one in five of those children diagnosed won’t survive. Throughout Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, St. Jude will amplify its efforts to raise the awareness and funds that sustain its mission: Finding cures. Saving children.
St. Jude is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. Treatments developed at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude freely shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food—because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
In addition to St. Jude, CULTEC supports a number of other charities and local good causes including, Brookfield Lion Charities, Inc., Team Hole In The Wall, L4Kids.org, American Cancer Society, ALS, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics Connecticut, United Way: Sandy Hook School Support Fund, The Mission Continues, H.O.R.S.E. of CT, Brookfield High School - Sports Dept., Wounded Warrior Project, Marine Corps Family Foundation, Ridgefield Playhouse, CT AM Vets, St. Joseph School in Brookfield, Conn., and St. Joseph School Basketball in Danbury, Conn.
