Missing Candlewood Lake Boy Never Left Home: PD

State Troopers, the New Fairfield PD, DEEP, and K9 patrols were all called in to canvas the area.

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — Blake Taylor, the 4-year-old boy who was reported missing and sent state and local search-and-rescue crews into overdrive on Wednesday, was found by a K9 trooper -- asleep in his home.

The News Times is reporting that Taylor's mom had put him down for a nap shortly before reporting him missing, when in fact he was merely hidden beneath cushions.

Trooper and K9 handler Ed Anuszewski had taken a bit of Blake's pillowcase to give the bloodhound, Texas, the boy's scent. Shortly after Texas began pulling his handler back toward the interior of the home, the child was discovered.

"Apparently 4-year-old Blake was practicing his magician skills earlier today when he suddenly disappeared from his New Fairfield home putting his mother into a panic and first responders into search-mode," State police wrote on their Facebook page. "State Troopers, State Police K9 teams, New Fairfield Police, New Fairfield FD and DEEP searched the area in an effort to find young Blake. Luckily all ended well and Blake was not only located uninjured, but made a new best friend in K9 Texas!"

The child was missing for about an hour.
