New Brookfield Cheer Gym Gives Athletes a Competitive Edge

"We want to put Connecticut on the Nation's map for gymnastics," Brookfield business owner Ashely Anton said.

Ashley Anton, owner of Kratos, is excited to announce that they are bringing their gym’s cheerleading and gymnastics programs to Brookfield.

“After many gyms opened and closed, we are open and offering both sports in one location for the first time in Brookfield history. Both programs are equally as high quality and have the common goal of educating all participants in acrobatics as well as teaching them the valuable life lessons of setting big goals, working hard towards what they desire, working together, supporting their peers, dealing with failures and remaining humble in times of success,” Anton told Patch.

The cheer program began on December 10 and is currently a half-year competitive program that runs through April 2016. Next year they will offer a full year program which will allow athletes to train year-round, giving them a competitive edge. The girls participating on the current team are between the ages of 8-11.

The All-Star Cheer program is headed up by Stephanie Gesualdi, who has 12 years of cheerleading experience including competing on a Level 6 team at the 2015 Cheerleading Worlds and as a cheer coach. She holds a USASF certification in levels 1-5.

The head tumbling coach of the cheerleading program is also the head gymnastics coach. Kratos told Patch, ”Mihael-Catalin Anton is the only coach in the state of Connecticut who has formed a World Championship competitor and Olympic bronze medalist gymnast renowned for her tumbling on floor exercise.”

The co-head gymnastics coach is Ashley Del Monte Anton. “I take pride in providing Brookfield with the best gymnastics program to heart as I was personally a gymnast in Brookfield when I was younger. In addition to coaching gymnastics, I also serve as a USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Judge,” Anton said.
