Obituary: Barbara M. Murray, 76, Of Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, CT — Barbara M. Murray, 76 of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at Greenwich Hospital with her family and friends by her side. The daughter of Erich and Kate Fredrich, she was born in Luebben, Germany on Dec. 31, 1946.

Barbara loved to cook, bake, knit, and spend time at the beach. Her specialties in cooking included carrot cake, cheesecake, and French onion soup. She spent half a year at her other home in Port Richey, Florida at Senate Manor with wonderful friends. Her family and friends were her strength and determination to live life to her fullest.

Barbara leaves behind her son Robert P. Murray, daughter-in-law Colleen of Brookfield, and her grandchildren Ian Lawrence of Denver, CO, and Kayla, Jack, and William of Brookfield.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Axel at the age of 2, her daughter Bettina J. Lawrence in 2001, and her husband Ronald P. Murray in 2012. She met her husband Ron at a bus stop in Ettlingen, Germany when she was 17, then moved to Vermont to start her family. She proudly became a U.S. citizen in 2012.

A funeral mass for Barbara will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph Church, 1 Obtuse Hill Rd, Brookfield. A graveside service will immediately follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury, CT 06810.
