Obituary: Barbara Marie Gravesen, 80, Of Brookfield

Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and talking about and watching wrestling, as she was an avid WWE fan.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Barbara Marie Gravesen, 80 of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Monday May 9, 2022 at Danbury Hospital. Barbara was born in Danbury on August 13, 1941 to the late William and Helen (Gully) Brennan. She was the widow of Otto Arthur Gravesen.

Barbara was a loving, caring Mom and Grandmother who adored her grandchildren. She loved her cat Tippy and enjoyed going out to eat at Jersey Mike’s and Maggie McFly’s. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and talking about and watching wrestling, as she was an avid WWE fan. She also enjoyed shopping at Walmart and the Dollar Store, going to Bingo and having a hot dog with her friends. Barbara and her husband Otto were the owners/operators of the Covered Wagon on Rt. 7 on the Danbury/Ridgefield line for many years.

Barbara is survived by her children: Marie Athans and her husband David of Sandy Hook, Joseph Gravesen and his wife Michelle of Danbury, and Barbie Aziere and her husband Dan of Danbury; her grandchildren: Tanya Rotella, Tiffany Rotella, Zachary Gravesen, Alex Aziere, and Nathan Aziere and Jessica Aziere; as well as her nieces, nephew and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister Kathy Rouleau.

Visitation will be on this Friday from 10am-11am at Cornell Memorial Home, Danbury. Graveside service will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. All are requested to wear a mask for the indoor portion of Barbara’s service.
