Dolores J. Lindberg, 84

February 10, 1928 — February 27, 2012

Dolores J. (Goad) Lindberg, of Brookfield, and loving wife of 61 years to Charles S. Lindberg, died Monday, February 27, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. Dolores was born February 10, 1928, in El Dorado, KS, daughter to the late Willard (Bus) and Alice (Marsh) Goad.

Dolores married her husband, Charles on June 4, 1950 in Madison, KS. Along with her husband, Charles, Dolores is survived by her son Eric J. Lindberg and his wife Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” of Oak Hill, VA, daughter, Kristin MacDonald and her husband Dennis of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Seth Lindberg and his fiancée Rashi Ratan, Mary Lindberg, KD MacDonald, Collin MacDonald and his wife Crystal, Ashley MacDonald ten Hoeve and her husband Alan and also by her great grandson, Arlo ten Hoeve.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree in education from Emporia State Teacher’s College completing additional education at Kansas University and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Dolores worked in Topeka, KS for a state organization while Charles went to Korea and he later graduated Law School. From there Charles’ employment with Mobil Oil took them to Wichita, KS, Oklahoma, OK, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, Fairfax, VA and finally to Stamford, CT. Within that time Dolores was a secretary for The Children’s Village and South Presbyterian Church both in Dobbs Ferry, NY; she also taught elementary school in Yonkers, NY.

Dolores and her husband have had a home at the Candlewood Lake Club in Brookfield, CT since 1972 and for the past 20 years have spent their winter months in San Diego, CA. She was a member of the PEO and of the in Brookfield, CT.

She was an avid Square Dancer, where for 17 years attended national conventions with her husband and friends. She and her husband had a love for travel, going to 49 of the 50 states, mostly though trips with Elderhostel. They participated in more than 40 programs, half in Western Europe and the others in all parts of the U.S. In addition to travel, Dolores loved to stitch, rarely sitting without needle and thread in hand. She completed several Cloister Unicorn Series tapestries, sewed fashion square dance dresses and in later years Prayer shawls for the bereaved. Dolores lived a wonderful life, is loved by her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Valley Presbyterian Church, 21 West Whisconier Road. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. will be assisting the family.
