BROOKFIELD, CT — Jacqueline Elizabeth Mee Goin, age 88, of Brookfield passed away on Dec. 16, 2022, after a long fight with pulmonary fibrosis.

Jackie was born on Oct. 4, 1934, to Evelyn and Jack Mee in the Bronx, NY. She graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School where she met many lifelong friends. She met her loving husband Ed when he went to see her perform in her senior play in high school. She attended Belleview Nursing School in New York City for a year while Ed fought in the Korean War. Shortly after his return after being wounded, Jackie and Ed married in 1953. (Ed always said he married Jackie because he knew she would help him get to heaven.) They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary, and their marriage has always been a great model of love, patience, and forgiveness to their family and all who knew them.

Jackie’s vocation was always as a wife and mother, and she worked tirelessly to provide a loving home to her six children, Jack, Diane, Debbie, Kerry, Mary Therese, and Elizabeth, whom they raised in Yonkers, NY. Jackie and Ed also opened their home to a foster son, Jose, who they took in to live with the family for several years.

Jackie’s Catholic faith was extremely important to her, and she attended daily Mass for most of her life. She shared her love and faith through many ministries throughout her life, which she continued until the week of her death. She and her husband Ed shared their faith and helped others through the Marriage Encounter movement, helping engaged couples in marriage preparation through the Pre-Cana ministry and newlywed couples through the Natural Family Planning ministry. Jackie was actively involved in all her parishes and led prayer groups in every community she lived in. Once they moved to Brookfield, Jackie became involved in her new parish, St. Marguerite Bourgeois. She was recently president of the Legion of Mary and visited patients at Danbury Hospital and Bethel Health Care Center, offering comfort, God’s Word, and sacramentals to patients for many years until 2019. She also shared rosaries, scapulars, and Divine Mercy images in her parish to assist others in their faith.
