Obituary: James R. Taylor, 75, Of Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, CT — James R. Taylor, 75, of Brookfield passed away peacefully at his home on July 30th after a long illness. He was the husband of Linda (Ferguson) Taylor.

Jim was born in Concord, New Hampshire, a son of the late E. Ray Taylor and Norma (Keenan) Taylor

He attended Windsor Locks High School, graduating in 1966. He served in the US Army including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

After returning from the service, he began a career in management with Friendly Ice Cream. He was transferred to the Friendly restaurant in Bethel in 1970. It was there he met Linda, who would later become his wife of 52 years. Later, Jim worked at Pitney Bowes for 22 years as a quality control inspector. After retiring from Pitney Bowes he worked as a security officer for Securitas.

Jim was an avid sports fan and enjoyed rooting for the Boston Red Sox and the NY Giants and the whole family enjoyed following the UCONN Huskies. When he wasn’t watching sports he enjoyed movies and TV shows including talent shows from every country on YouTube.

His greatest joy was his family and always enjoyed family parties and the holidays.

He was survived by his wife, Linda and his 7 children: Allison(Ian) Miles of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; Nicole (Kate) Davis of Chelsea, Massachusetts; Ryan (Amy) of Danbury; Scott of Brookfield; Melissa of Unionville; Alex(Hanna) Los Angeles, CA; and Jeremy, also of Brookfield.
He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Vanessa (Carter) Baran, Joshua, Sophia and Brianna Miles of SC; and Sarah and Jacob Taylor of Danbury; as well as a great-grandson: Beckett Baran of SC.
Also surviving is his sister, Jane (John) Renauld, of Naugatuck, as well as several nephews and nieces.

A Memorial Gathering will be celebrated Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main St. in Danbury
