BROOKFIELD, CT — Jean Steele Stauffer, 89, of Brookfield, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018. She was predeceased by John W., her husband of 65 years, and a brother, John B. Steele

.Jean was born on April 19, 1929, in West Thornton, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late Aletha (A. Smith) and Harry W. Steele. Jean is survived by a sister, Barbara Straub, and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was a long-time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was a valued member of the choir and the Altar Guild, and was treasurer of the church for many years. Jean also spent many years as a member of the Brookfield Historical Society and in the Auxiliary of the Brookfield Fire Department.

The Burial Rite will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookfield. Interment and reception will follow at the church.
