Obituary: JoAnn Pomeroy, 85, Of Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, CT — JoAnn Pomeroy passed away peacefully after a strong and valiant battle against dementia in the comfort of her own home on Monday May 15, 2023 at the age of 85.

Born on September 5, 1937 in Danbury, daughter of the late Arthur and Elda (Mancucci) McCormack. JoAnn was a 1955 graduate of Danbury High School.

JoAnn was happily married to George Pomeroy for only a few years before his tragic passing in 1960. She was a strong-willed and independent person surviving on her own raising three young children after the passing of George.

JoAnn had many part-time jobs when her children were young, once they grew, she became the Second in Charge at the Southbury Training School. She used her strength every day in her job to help the students there.

JoAnn is survived by her loving children; Joseph Pomeroy, Karen Pomeroy, Sandra (Wayne) Peck, her grandchildren; Robert Repko (Mariah), Ashleigh Repko, Tyler Peck, Kyle Pomeroy and Meghan Barrett and her great-grandchildren Kayla and Kyle and her brother Arthur, her best dog and companion Phoebe and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters; Carol and Shirley.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday May 27th, 2023 at 11am. Interment will be private. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Please visit www.danburymemorial.com to send condolences.
