Obituary: John Grier Voris, 85, Of Brookfield
John was an active member of the Brookfield Police Commission and a trustee of the Brookfield Library for 20-plus years.

BROOKFIELD, CT — John Grier Voris of Brookfield passed away Tuesday, July 19. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan (née Syler) and his daughters; Cherie Dalton (Mark) and Liza Voris. He was deeply loved by his family and many friends.
John was born on August 15, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He grew up in Hyde Park, NY where he met his best friend and wife Joan in the first grade. He graduated from Union College in 1961 and had an extremely successful and rewarding career with IBM. After retirement, they moved to Brookfield, where he became an active member of the Brookfield Police Commission and a trustee of the Brookfield Library for 20-plus years. He took great pleasure in supporting his community and mentoring young people.
Visiting hours are Sunday, July 24 at 2:00 – 4:00 at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT. Burial will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery, 1076 Violet Avenue (9G), Hyde Park, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department or the Brookfield Library.
