Obituary: Joseph Francis Schultz, 64, of Brookfield

Joe enjoyed playing pool, chess, his guitar and never missed the opportunity to play cards.

BROOKFIELD, CT -- Joseph Francis Schultz, age 64, of Brookfield, was called home to his final poker game on Tuesday August 14, 2018. He was born to the late Joseph and Viola Schultz in Hartford on February 11, 1954, sharing the birthday with his mother.

Joe is survived by Diane, his wife of 33 years, his brothers: Thomas Schultz of New Canaan and James Schultz of New Britain, his sister-in-laws: Donna Gardiner of Brookfield and Janet Kalwat of Wallingford, nieces Ivy and Gwendolyn and nephew Gregory.

Joe graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a degree in Economics. During his career he was employed by Tref Corporation and Town Fair Tire. After working several years in the pest control and wildlife nuisance field he started his own company, Schultz Pest and Wildlife Solutions.

He was a member of the Italian American and Lebanon American clubs. He enjoyed playing pool, chess, his guitar and never missed the opportunity to play cards. Joe was a fighter who faced illness and many physical disabilities in his life with humor and determination, even when he didn't have the strength.

Joe's family will receive relatives and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Sunday August 19, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Brookfield. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
