Obituary: Margaret Theresa (Fisher) Gruneberg, 91, of Brookfield

She was retired after working 52 years as a bookkeeper at Markoff Shoes in Danbury and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Mrs. Margaret Theresa (Fisher) Gruneberg, 91, of Brookfield, died Friday January 4 at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Rudolph F. Gruneberg.

Mrs. Gruneberg was born March 7, 1927 in Brookfield, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Madden) Fisher. She was retired after working 52 years as a bookkeeper at Markoff Shoes in Danbury and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookfield. She was an active member of the Brookfield Senior Center and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Gruneberg is survived by her son, Geoffrey Gruneberg, of Brookfield; her daughter, Judith (George) York of Southbury; her siblings, Bob Fisher and Lillian Covill, both of Brookfield; her grandchildren, Nicole (Frank Rotovnik) Gruneberg, Alisha (Ryan Buonocore) Gruneberg, Jeffrey (Priyanka) York, and Samantha York; her great grandchildren, Derek and Jaxon Buonocore, and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret's family will receive friends and relatives at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield on Sunday January 13 from 3 to 5 p.m, with a funeral service there at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in Central Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
