Obituary: Richard Thomas Oberg, 82, of Brookfield
He was a member of Newtown Fish and Game, Hattertown Rod and Gun, Turkey Roost Rod and Gun and Hiram 18 Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Richard Thomas Oberg, resident of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September, 8, 2018. He was born on March 6, 1936 in Bridgeport and attended Summerfield Elementary and Middle School. He also attended Fairfield Prep for high school.
Richard was married to Joan Reilly Oberg for 57 years who predeceased him in 2013. He lived in Newtown for many years until moving to Brookfield in 2008. He owned Oberg's Texaco Service Station from 1954 until 1988 and was a contributor to the Town of Newtown for 50 years.
Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Newtown Fish and Game, Hattertown Rod and Gun, Turkey Roost Rod and Gun as well as a member of Hiram 18 Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was also a member of Newtown United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Carl Oberg of New Milford and Randall Oberg of Bantam. Richard had five grandchildren, Jason Oberg of Bridgewater, Kevin Oberg of New Milford, Katie Oberg Zuleg of New Milford, Christopher Oberg and Andrew Oberg, both of Southbury. He also leaves two great grandchildren. Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will truly be missed.
Services will be held at the United Methodist Church located at 92 Church Hill Rd., Sandy Hook on Saturday, September 29th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the located at 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
