BROOKFIELD, CT —Ronald C. Smith, 89 of Brookfield, husband of Veronica (Owen) Smith, died on Monday morning, November 19, 2018 at Regional Hospice of Western CT Center for Comfort Care, Danbury.
A Danbury native, Mr. Smith was born on March 14, 1929, son of Byron and Ruth (Ferguson) Smith. He attended Danbury schools and was a U.S. Armyveteran.

Mr. Smith was employed for many years with the former First National Stores as a produce manager. In later years, he was employed with Kobacker Market of Brewster, NY.
He enjoyed sports as an observer and a former area baseball coach. He participated in duck pin bowling and enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Brookfield Mens Club and AARP. He found tremendous joy in celebrating life with his wife, daughters and their spouses and most especially the grandchildren and spouses and great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
In addition to his wife Veronica of sixty-four years, Mr. Smith is survived by three daughters, Laurel (Smith) Hill and her husband Chuck, Sandra (Smith) Pflomm and her husband Raymond and Debra (Smith) Korf and her husband Steven, all of Brookfield; four grandchildren, Jennifer Pascale and her husband Martin Jr., Heather Schlesinger and her husband Daniel, Andrew Pflomm, and Anna-Lee (Pflomm) Murphy and her husband Jeffrey and four great-grandchildren, Martin, Nathaniel, Stella and Hadley.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.Relatives and friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.In lieu of flowers, contributions to Regional Hospice & Palliative Care, 30 Milestone Rd., Danbury, CT 06810 would be greatly appreciated.
