Oil Truck Driver Freed After Pinned Under Vehicle: Brookfield PD

The truck was on its side and the operator was partially pinned underneath.

BROOKFIELD, CT — A home oil delivery truck overturned Friday morning on Tommys Lane in Brookfield.

Police arrived at the scene to find the vehicle on its side and the truck operator partially pinned underneath. Officers used shovels and a pry bar to relieve pressure on the operator's leg before firefighters got the scene.

Firefighters used a hydraulic device to lift the truck and fully free the driver and Public Works crews cleared brush from the area to make the rescue easier. The driver was taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Brookfield Police continue to investigate the incident. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the scene to assess a minor liquid spill, which is believed to be from the truck's fuel tank. No heating oil leaked.

The truck belongs to N.E. Mitchell Co. of Danbury.
