'Oldest Call in the Book:' Fire Department Rescues Cat from Tree

Shortly before noon on July 21, firefighters were dispatched to aid the imperiled pussycat.

BROOKFIELD, CT -- In what firefighters called one of the "oldest calls in the book" on their Facebook page, Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department Candlewood Company rescued a cat from a tree on Saturday.

Shortly before noon on July 21, firefighters were dispatched to aid the imperiled pussycat.

"After a few corny jokes, it was decided the best way to help our four legged friend down was with Engine 1," the social media post said.

After a successful save, the firefighters turned the now 8-lived feline over to a neighbor whom they say agreed to bring the animal to the Brookfield Animal Hospital for potential identification.
