Opinion: Brookfield Needs to Bring Honesty and Transparency Back to Town Finances

"Steve Dunn has the passion and experience to lead as First Selectman," wrote Linda Frame, Brookfield resident.

A Letter to the Editor Written By Linda Frame, Brookfield, Conn.

I write to support Steve Dunn, Sue Slater, and the rest of the Row A team in this Tuesday, November 3rd election. I cannot think of a more qualified team to lead our town and soundly manage our tax dollars.

Steve and his family have lived in Brookfield for over 30 years. I can personally speak to his passion for the community. Steve and his wife Cassie raised over $300,000 in donations for many worthy Brookfield causes, including a new track at Brookfield High School.

For me, Steve Dunn not only has the experience (a 30 year career in corporate banking) but he has the temperament to bring people together to work for our town. The rest of the Row A finance team (John Lucas for Town Treasurer, Sean Hathorn and Mark Zerbe for Board of Finance) brings another 50+ years of financial experience. These are real professionals who are committed to doing the right thing for the right reason.

Bill Tinsley’s record is one of divisiveness, ignoring the clear voice of the overwhelming majority at town meetings, voiding a petition signed by 1,000 Brookfielders and more. His representation of ‘facts’ during budget discussions and beyond are certainly not the real situations we see with our own eyes or experienced by our students, nor are they supported by state reports.

When it comes to managing our taxpayer dollars, or choosing who I want to represent me and my town, the choice is clear. Vote Steve Dunn, Sue Slater, and the entire Row A team on November 3rd.
