Opinion: Eve Sturdevant, Candidate For Brookfield Board of Education.

My name is Eve Sturdevant and I am writing to introduce myself. I am an unaffiliated voter and a candidate for the Brookfield Board of Education.

I am a business owner, a wife, and most importantly I’m a parent. My daughter received a wonderful education from the Brookfield Public School System and I would like to see that every child in Brookfield receives the same education and opportunities that she did.

As a 20 year business owner, I have experience in budgets, negotiations and management, in addition to familiarity of meetings and how they are conducted. I currently sit on the Board of Directors of the Brookfield Museum and Historical Society as well as the Secretary on the Brookfield Commission on Aging.

A lifelong resident of Brookfield, I have spent the past 37 years working and/or volunteering with children. Some of my background includes swim instructor, dance teacher, cheerleading coach, room parent, Girl Scouts leader and Moms and Tots coordinator.

Our children are our future and I am of the strong belief that how they are raised and taught will follow them throughout life. They deserve the best resources available and if elected, I will fight for their rights as well as the rights of our teachers, paraprofessionals and administration.

In closing, I pledge to run an honest, drama free campaign. I will not engage in scare tactics and will not participate in negativity. I promise to remain open and positive. As adults, we are the role models for our children and I vow to be just that, a role model.
