Opinion: Voting For Change, Voting Row A

A Letter to the Editor in support of Steve Dunn for First Selectman of Brookfield, written by Anna Sullivan.

A Letter to the Editor from Anna Sullivan.

As a parent, landowner and taxpayer in Brookfield CT I am frustrated. Frustrated that I have felt unheard and ignored but the current bodies in office in Brookfield. I do not believe that borrowing money in lieu of raising taxes is a wise financial decision. I do not believe that the leader of a town should ignore a petition of a large number of the town’s voters without even holding a town meeting to address the issue at hand. I do not believe that the board of finance members and first selectman should be allowed to ignore the advice and suggestions of proper funding provided by the board of education -who are elected officials chosen by the town residents! What we have now is not working.

This is why I am voting for change. I am voting row A. As neither a Democrat nor Republican I appreciate the diverse history of party affiliations that row A offers. I appreciate the honest answers that these candidates provide when asked direct questions. I appreciate any answers at this point instead of double talk and offers to meet for coffee. I appreciate the Dunn/Slater’s team promise to work collaboratively with the town boards who are chosen by the people of Brookfield. This shows an intention to be responsible to the people of Brookfield. I am ready to be heard. I am ready for rational decisions. I am ready to vote for the Dunn/Slater team.
