BROOKFIELD, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Brookfield and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Entrepreneur Naheed Quaisar, 47, is running for election to the Brookfield Board of Finance as a Democrat. She holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and PG Diploma in Marketing Communications. She and her husband have three children, ages 21, 19 and 13.

Why are you seeking this office?

Brookfield is a beautiful community and I would like to contribute to my town using my life’s experiences and learnings.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Accountability and Ownership - as the residents and nurturers of this beautiful town, I feel no decision should be taken lightly. We need to weigh the sustainability and long term consequences of the choices we make.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

In my 21 years of experience as a small business owner, I have juggled many budgets and weighed risks and rewards. To grow we need to take risks and when taking risks we have to weigh in sustainability.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

Our decisions can be building blocks or road blocks. As we continue to build and nurture this community I will try to be a builder with foresight.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Work hard and diligently for the success of our town

Well traveled, experienced small business owner with three kids who went to Brookfield school system
