Phoebe Holmes, a Brookfield resident, tells Patch why she should be elected State Representative, 107th District.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The 2022 election is heating up in Connecticut and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office. Eyes are primarily focused on the gubernatorial election, but every state representative and senate seat is up for grabs. All five of Connecticut's congressional seats, plus one U.S. Senate seat, are up for grabs as well.
There are 151 seats in the state House of Representatives and 36 in the state Senate. Democrats currently hold majorities in both chambers.

Why are you seeking this office?
To help and serve others.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is the cost of living. I believe in a strong economy and making things more affordable for working and middle class families.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I believe that I am best suited for this office because of my background as a teacher and business owner.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I intend to bring transparently, honesty, and dignity back to elected positions. I will always advocate for all women’s rights, healthcare, a strong economy, seniors, and the climate. I wholeheartedly support our first responders. I want to live in a thriving safe community, and make sure that my constituents have everything they need to live a fulfilling life.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Zoning Commissioner, Educator, Property Appraiser and Tax Revaluation Specialist, Business Owner, Sales Manager.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
“Never be afraid to ask for what you need.” Followed by, “Forgive, forgive, and forgive again” and one last favorite is “Speak your truth.”
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am so excited for the opportunity to run for this seat. I’m grateful for the support from my community thus far. If I’m elected, I will seek to make a significant and positive impact in the lives of my constituents and our community. I will be accessible, transparent, and extremely hardworking.
