Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
Current Vice Chair of Planning Commission
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
To continue to volunteer my time to help the town.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.
As it pertains to Planning, managing the growth of the town while maintaining our small town Brookfield charm. I am protective of the lake and residential areas. Updating the Plan of Conservation and Development is one way to formulate a collective vision which will require input from many areas of the town.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Don't really know them, but I am the current Vice Chair and I feel I have demonstrated an open, even-handed and fair approach to all matters that have come to the Board. I also have a pretty good attendance record.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I have a background that involves transportation and have often spoken up about our crowded roads. Even our shortcut and side roads are getting backed up during busy periods. I am concerned about both safety and time lost.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have been involved in projects professionally that required my interpretation of regulations and then collaborating with a team, often globally. That experience has helped me already as a member of the Planning Commission. We may come from a variety of backgrounds, but we can get together and get the work done.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Be true
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
Like all members of the Planning Commission, I will try my best to follow the example set by the late Jon Van Hise.
