Patch Candidate Profile: Sean Turner, Brookfield Zoning Commission
Brookfield resident Sean Turner tells Patch why he should be elected to the Zoning Commission.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Brookfield and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Sean Turner, 51, is running for a seat on the Brookfield Zoning Commission as a Democrat. He is the director of Camp and School Age Child Care at the YMCA, and has a degree in early childhood education. He and his wife Melanie have a son Jackson, a freshman at Brookfield High School, and a daughter in 6th grade at Whisconier Middle School.

Why are you seeking this office?
Public service is a good way to serve the community. We live in a good place and I want to be a part of making it stay that way.

Like most areas, affordable housing is an issue. We have to work together to improve this.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
The current administration has divided Brookfield. We need to bring this town back together. Brookfield always had political differences, but was able to find a way to work together.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have managed various large projects that required going before the Zoning Commission. One gains an understanding of the Zoning Commission.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
I have received many great advice over the years, but during a turbulent time of my life my mother said to me "when one door closes another opens"
