Patterson Veterinarian Launches Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Program

PATTERSON, NY - Brook Farm Veterinary Center of Patterson recently announced the launch of their own in-house spay/neuter program.

Pounds and shelters kill over 3 million abandoned pets each year, and countless more suffer from sickness, exposure, starvation, and death on the streets. These pets often begin as beloved household companions, but for one reason or another cannot be cared for and thus are abandoned. Many pet owners do not have the means to spay or neuter their animals, leading to unplanned pregnancies that contribute to this serious issue.

Brook Farm’s low-cost program will help to limit pet overpopulation, reduce the risks of sexually-transmitted disease like FIV, and provide pet owners with a safe, reliable, and affordable option for altering their pets.

To enroll in the program, community members simply visit Brook Farm’s website or call their Patterson, New York office. The certificate, which can be ordered, purchased, and picked up at Brook Farm, entitles the owner to a discounted rate on their pet’s spay or neuter, saving them upwards of $500.

Five percent of of the proceeds from every certificate purchase are donated to the Veterinary Care Foundation and earmarked for Brook Farm Veterinary Center’s use. Their fund is one of the Hudson Valley’s only resources for pets who need immediate attention when their families cannot afford the care. While certain restrictions are enforced to keep the Fund viable, Brook Farm is able to cover an average of 83% of the costs accrued by families in need: these costs have ranged from as small as $85 to as large as $2,280 to save a pet in need. Brook Farm makes no profit off of the cases that receive financial support, and nearly every recipient of the Farm Fund’s aid would have lost their lives without it.
