Police Release More Images of Garbage Train Derailment in Brookfield

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said Wednesday.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield police on Wednesday released more images of a train derailment along a section of track in town.

Meanwhile, the Housatonic Railroad Co. continues to investigate what happened, police said.

Police announced the accident just before 3 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The train was heading northbound on a straight section of track, police said.

The contents of the train cars appear to have remained inside the cars, police said. The train was carrying what appears to be garbage or construction debris, police said.

Police said they were told by railroad officials that no hazardous materials were on board.

Railroad officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday morning.
