Popular Brookfield Market Closes

A popular market has closed its doors.

BROOKFIELD, CT — O'Donovan's Brookfield Market announced that it has closed its doors.

"We have undergone many issues with the building along with our own mistakes as first time business owners," the owners said on Facebook. "We are unable to recover financially and keep the store to the standards we want, and the standards Brookfield deserves."

Owner John O'Donovan said the family's liquor store J&J Fine Wines and Spirits will likely relocate within Brookfield in the future, according to the News-Times.

The market functioned as a deli, meat market and grocery store.

"We also want to apologize for the decline we've had in the last year or so. We’ve had to close on many random occasions because of buildings issues (frozen pipes, ceiling floods, etc)," the owners said on Facebook.
