Musicals at Richter’s Summer Youth Musical Theater Presents

“Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.” August 13-15

Danbury, Conn. – Musicals at Richter (MAR), now in its 31st season as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut, concludes its offerings with “Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.,” performed by students from its Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshop. Staged on the grounds of the Richter Arts Center in Danbury, performances take place outdoors under the stars at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, August 13-15.

Based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie’s enchanting play, “Peter Pan Jr.” is a modern version of the timeless tale about Peter Pan, a boy who wouldn’t grow up, and his adventures in Neverland with Wendy, John and Michael Darling. Their travels introduce them to the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Indians and even the infamous pirate, Captain Hook! The score includes new arrangements of classic Disney songs, such as “Following the Leader,” “You Can Fly,” “The Second Star to the Right” and “Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me.”

Directed and choreographed by MAR Artistic Director Lauren Nicole Sherwood (Stamford), “Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.” features a talented cast of more than 40 young area performers ages 8 through 16. Kylie Shuflata (Danbury) portrays Peter Pan, joined by Abby Giansiracusa (Danbury) as Wendy, Matthew Segal (Southbury) as Michael and Erik Wallin (Danbury) as John. Ciara Cuneo (Patterson, NY) is featured as Tinkerbell and Mila Kuilan (Danbury) plays Tiger Lily. Abigail Heiden and Ethan Berger (both of Danbury) take on the roles of Peter’s nemesis Captain Hook and Hook’s faithful assistant Smee respectively.

Rounding out the company in a variety of roles are: Sara Heinen and Hannah McGuire (Bethel); Olivia and Vivian Aldrich (Brookfield); Amanda and Heather Bothwell, Rianne Chiarello, Nicole DeMotte, Gabrielle and Rebecca D’Ostillo, Kaylee Drago, Conner and Riley Duhamel, Robert and Vincent Fontenelli, Madison Flamme, Lucas and Sarah Geoffrion, Cassidy and Kayla Holmes, Emma Jardim, Christopher Lopes, Kendal McNamara, Mia Pineault, Haley Pucci, Carolina Rafael, Curtis Rodriguez, Caroline Stanton, Brooke Stillman, Gabriella Storms; Lauren Sturm and Molly Tarnowski (New Fairfield); Tara Stanley (Roxbury); and Amelia Rosen and Emily Segal (Southbury).

The creative team also includes Brendan Fox (Wilton) as musical director.

“Peter Pan, Jr.” is performed at the Richter Arts Center (next to the Richter Park Golf Course, I-84, Exit 2), 100 Aunt Hack Road, in Danbury. Tickets for this summer youth performance cost $15 for adults and $10 for students and children, and may be made reserved through the Musicals at Richter website (www.musicalsatrichter.org) or purchased at the door. Grounds open at 7:15 p.m. for picnicking, with curtain at 8:00 p.m. (please note earlier show time). Chair rentals and soft drink/snack concessions are available on-site.
