Reminder: Public Hearing is Thursday for 6-Story Complex Called 'The Renaissance '
A public hearing proposal to build a 156-unit apartment building on Federal Rd. will continue at the Zoning Commission meeting on Thursday.

The Public Hearing for 763 and 777 Federal Rd. will continue
The meeting is regarding creating a new zoning classification for the Federal Road properties known as “The Renaissance.” If approved, the project will have 156 rental apartments, including 47 affordable housing units.
First Selectman Steve Dunn said at the First Selectman debate he is against the affordable housing units and that there is a need for a variety of types of housing in Brookfield, including affordable, mid-range and luxury, such as Newbury Village.
The News Times reported that the developers are trying to go around local zoning restrictions as long as 30 percent of the housing units are considered “affordable” under state guidelines.
The Zoning Commission meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and the public hearing will start at 7:30 p.m. at Brookfield Town Hall, 100 Pocono Road, room 133.
