An author holds a seance for research but plans backfire when the ghost of his first wife appears. Opening night of Blithe Spirit is Friday.

There will be a seance at Brookfield Theatre for the Arts on Friday. But don’t worry, there won’t be any real ghosts. It’s opening night for the well-loved Neal Coward play, Blithe Spirit.

Erik Tonner returns to The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts (TBTA) to direct this classic farce about the ­after-life. His previous TBTA directing credits include “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Godspell”, and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

Blithe Spirit was written and originally performed during the London Blitz (WWII) and became an overnight success.

There will be a free preview for area senior citizens (65+) on Thurs., Sept. 11 at 8 p.m.
