Spanish Classes May Be Reduced at Brookfield Schools
School board members say not even time is being devoted to social studies.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Board of Education is considering cutting back the current world language curriculum at the elementary school level, the Danbury News-Times reported.
Under a proposal, Spanish would be eliminated for kindergarten through second graders, and reduced for fifth and sixth-graders.
The school board chairman said social studies skills have declined due in part to class time being taken up by Spanish in fifth and sixth grade.
