BROOKFIELD, CT — A standoff involving multiple police departments and a Brookfield man ended peacefully after nearly six hours on Friday, the Brookfield PD is reporting.

The parents of a 25-year-old Brookfield man called police at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Friday to report their son was suicidal and had left their home on Nicoles Court to buy drugs. They contacted the police again shortly before 6:00 p.m. to say that he had returned, and that they were requesting assistance.

Before police arrived, the parents say they tried to get their son to seek medical attention, but he shot out one of the vehicle's tires with a crossbow. He then retreated inside the house, with the weapon, and refused to come out, according to a release.
