BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Library is celebrating Take Your Child to The Library Day on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Take Your Child to the Library Day (TYCLD) is an international initiative that encourages families everywhere to take their children to their local library. Launched in 2011 in Connecticut by librarians Nadine Lipman (Waterford Public Library, retired) and Caitlin Augusta (Stratford Library) with artist Nancy Elizabeth Wallace, TYCLD raises community awareness about the importance of the library in the life of a child, and promotes library services and programs for children and families.
The Brookfield Library has several events planned:- 9:30 a.m. Donuts with Dads Storytime: Dads, Stepdads, Uncles, Grandpas and any other significant male figures are invited to bring their children to the library's Community Room to enjoy donuts and stories with Miss Debbie and Miss Meg. No registration necessary.
- 11:00 a.m. Brookfield Builders: Show off your incredible imagination and building skills by tackling a challenging theme with the library’s LEGO bricks. This month will be a Free Build. Registration is required and is limited to the first 24 children. You can sign up online, by phone at 203-775-6241 or in person at the library’s Checkout Desk.
- 2:00 p.m. "Hold Onto Your Hats" with Al deCant and Jill Kubeck: An interactive, musical journey about the many hats people wear every day in their lives. Learn about the countless hats people wear, and how those hats make us who we are while helping to make a difference in the lives of others.
