A Fine Day For a Canoe Trip

Family forges on with birthday party despite rain.

The rain came a little early Saturday, but that didn't stop Jack Castineiras of Farmington from celebrating his 7th birthday with a canoe ride.

Jack and some of his friends went forward with a birthday party at . Despite the rain that came before noon, they were still able to paddle.

"We're not letting the rain get in our way," said his mother Meg.

While the kids were having an unforgettable party, owner Jon Warner and Randy Pavel were busy moving kayaks inside and securing canoes and other items as much as possible.

The rain dampened other plans as well. Around 11 a.m., a group of cyclists from http://healthygears.com/ were putting their bikes away on cars in the town hall parking lot after cutting their Saturday morning ride short due to the earlier than expected rain.

Of course, many other events are being canceled as well, including a planned musical jam and movie at the night.
